The NGO promises to come forward and enhance their learning abilities. It encourages such adults to stand up on their feet and build their own future. Apart from educating and teaching them some vocational skills, the school provides education, boarding facility, clothes, sports medical, food etc. to these adults free of cost.
Mr. J.S. Sharma son of Sh. Shyam Singh Sharma, Founder of this NGO was born in a small village Sarawa in U.P. He lost his eye sight at the age of 3. He obtained primary and secondary education in the local village school. After which he joined Blind Relief Association, Lal Kuan, Badarpur, New Delhi for About 5 year.
In his zeal to assist other blind persons, he started Janta Adrash Andh Vidyalaya with 2 students in two rooms in 1970. Gradually the number of student increased and the vidyalaya progressed continuously. He ensured that Directorate of Education, Delhi Government, recognizes the school.
It was in 1996 that the founder thought of a similar school for the visually challenged adults. It was the founder’s vision and an innovative approach to provide literacy, education, technical education, skills and services to empower the visually blind adults.
The school was started in Gurugram for the student who could not get their education in their younger days because of lack of facilities of such schools or those who at their younger age did not get the medium or the chance to study. The NGO was thus visualized as a place where they would not only get education but also learn the skills to earn a living for themselves.
The NGO is run by the management Committee, and gets aid from the Government. The NGO also accepts donations from public and Corporate in terms of money, goods and services.
Our mission for the visually handicapped adults is not just to educate them but to give them the right direction and train them to make a living and to stand up on their own feet.
The NGO aims to enhance independent living skills in the lives of the visually handicapped adults, try and improve their employability and business skills, explore their talents and enrich their activities and also help them discover the joys of lifelong learning.
To empower visually handicapped to lead normal lives by teaching them skillets free of cost
